Walking & Cycling

Beautiful Stonor Valley is criss-crossed with walking and cycling routes, making Stonor Park the perfect place to stop for rest and refreshment.

Illy Coffee, delicious hot chocolate, tea, soft drinks, ice cold beer, cider and wine as well as sandwiches,  snacks and on some days hot soup are available at The Chilterns Pit Stop Cafe at our Visitor Centre.  Or for something a little more substantial try our cosy Stonor Pantry. Check out our Opening Times for more information.

A walking route runs along the top of the valley providing stunning views of Stonor Park and the house down below.

Shakespeare's Way

Shakespeare's Way is a route stretching from Shakespeare's birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon to The Globe Theatre in London, passing through Stonor along the way. Way-marked throughout, the walk spans 220 miles - so why not plan to start or finish a stretch at Stonor? For more information visit www.shakespearesway.org.

Chiltern Way

The Chiltern Way walk circles the Chiltern hills across 4 counties and runs through the parkland at Stonor. Only a stone's throw away, include a visit to us as part of your walk when you plan your day. For more information, visit www.chilternsociety.org.uk/about-ChltnWay.

Containing some of the best cycling routes in the country, what better way to enjoy the wonderful Chiltern Hills than by bike? We even have a free Cyclepod bicycle repair station and air pump for cyclists to use.  If you need some inspiration for combining your visit to Stonor with a ride through the Valley, here are some great ideas to get you started.

The Henley Loop

Encompassing the whole of Stonor Valley, the Henley Loop is a 26 mile route starting and finishing at Henley-on-Thames. The route will take you from the station right past our front gates, making Stonor the perfect place to stop and recharge your legs.

Stonor to Christmas Common

This wonderfully scenic route passes through Queens Wood and along The Bridleway. It is a brilliant route if you want to experience different terrains (we highly recommend using a mountain bike) - from tarmac to gravel and dirt roads, through farmland and once again, running right by our front gates.
