Stonor house

A Romantic Christmas at Stonor

Discover the magic of a Romantic Christmas at Stonor.  For generations the Stonor Family have delighted in decorating Stonor House for Christmas. We are thrilled to open our doors again and welcome you with our heart-warming theme for this year.

For ‘A Romantic Christmas at Stonor’, the House will be bathed in the glow of candlelight and the warmth of open fires.  Enter the Gothic Hall where a charming Christmas Eve scene awaits, complete with stockings hung by the grand fireplace.   A magnificent 20ft Victorian decorated Christmas Tree will be laden with sparkling decorations gathered from the family’s travels around the world.  The Dining Room will be decorated to receive its guests with a beautifully dressed table awaiting a festive feast.  Follow the candlelight and enjoy the magical decorations of a romantically inspired Christmas.

Beautiful natural Christmas decorations

Decorating Stonor

Lady Ailsa and gifted florist, Sue Bailey West, are assisted by our Head Gardener and Park team sourcing natural foliage and flora from the park to be used to adorn the House.

The process begins many months ahead, with holly, mistletoe, sweet scented pine and other greenery carefully selected from the estate to suit each year’s theme.  It is then cut before the birds get to the berries and placed in water to await transformation into beautiful natural Christmas decorations.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
