Join us for a truly magical evening as The Countess of Carnarvon of Highclere Castle — the real-life setting of Downton Abbey — brings the spirit of an English country house Christmas to life with an exclusive festive book reading at Stonor Park.
Hosted by Lady Ailsa Camoys within the candlelit setting of the Stonor Park Chapel, Lady Carnarvon will share captivating excerpts from her much-loved book Christmas at Highclere – Recipes and Traditions at The Real Downton Abbey.
Within its pages, Lady Carnarvon invites readers behind the scenes of one of England’s most iconic stately homes, revealing the history, rituals and cherished memories that have made Highclere Castle such a magical place at Christmastime — along with inspiration for bringing that same quintessentially British festive spirit into your own home.
Following the reading, guests will be invited to an intimate Q&A with Lady Carnarvon, before being led by Lady Ailsa into Stonor House to enjoy a glass of Hundred Hills sparkling wine, a festive mince pie, and a private moment to admire the magnificent Stonor Christmas tree in all its seasonal splendour within the Gothic Hall.
