Spooky family fun!

This half term we are having a Spooktacular Halloween event! Bring your family to search the garden for riddles, solve the mystery and receive a sweet treat!  Your ticket to our Halloween event also includes Wonder Woods, our fantastic adventure playground. Come and carve or paint a pumpkin. For one day only we are hosting a Mud and Guts Work Shop where children can build dens and light fires.  New for this year, come and see the Scarecrows being entered by local schools in our Scarecrow competition.  Our Visitor Centre will be open with hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks.  Children (and adults!) are encouraged to come in their best fancy dress outfit and share a selfie with us! For the bravest of all, come to an evening of Victorian ghostly story telling by Bill Spectre in our Medieval Hall!

The big competition

Build a Scarecrow

For the first time, this year we are inviting local school classes and community groups to build a scarecrow and display it at Stonor.  It’s a chance for young creative thinkers to construct something truly spook-tacular and show off their work for all to see!  During half term we will pick the spookiest scarecrow and award the winner with a magnificent Christmas tree for their classroom from the Tree Barn at Christmas Common. You can bring your scarecrows over for display between the 23rd-25th October and they will stay up through October Half Term (26th October to 3rd November).

We would be delighted for your school children to stay on after delivering their scarecrows and enjoy our Wonder Woods adventure playground, free of charge. Please let us know if you would like to bring a scarecrow and when you would like to come with it to Stonor between the 23rd and 25th of October.  We can provide stakes to attach the scarecrows to, and will be on hand to put them up.

Mud & Guts Workshops

Mud and Guts will be back at Stonor Park on Wednesday 30th October!

Mud & Guts is an outdoor adventure company for children. Based in Wiltshire they have been teaching children how to build shelters, light fires and not get lost in the woods for eight years.

We will be running two sessions, one from 10am-12noon for 5-7 year-olds and one from 1pm-3pm for ages 8+, although ages can be flexible.

At both sessions troops will be entertained with games (capture the flag, 'camo' hide n’ seek, manhunt) quizzes and bushcraft challenges such as den building, fire lighting & whittling & navigation and tracking skills.

All we ask is that children are suitably dressed in loose comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty, wear trainers (not wellies) and come with their own 1 litre water bottle. We will do the rest...

Please note: Separate tickets are required for the Halloween Trail
