Inspired by William and Ailsa’s adventures in the mountains of Yosemite National Park, Redwood is a traditional black tin drovers’ hut lined with Redwood planks taken from a Giant Redwood felled in Stonor Park and finished with fabulous Bennison fabrics.
Redwood’s rich, warm timber creates a cosier, more cocooned feeling that Quercus’s light and airy vibe.
William and Ailsa have given Redwood every luxury you could wish for, from 300 thread count linen on the climb-in king size bed, a fully equipped kitchen – with Nespresso machine and Grind coffee from Shoreditch, apple Juice from the orchard at Stonor in the fridge and a pull-out Fisher & Paykel dishwasher – to an ensuite bathroom with a handmade crackle-glaze tiled power shower with double shower heads and Commune toiletries. Enjoy the log burner on winter evenings and the firepit and BBQ in summer. Powered by 100% renewable energy.
Redwood has been painstakingly handcrafted in Dorset and on site at Stonor by Plankbridge. We chose Plankbridge because of their craftsmanship, attention to detail and genuine passion for creating spaces that sit gently within the landscape. Each is a masterpiece made entirely from scratch under the guidance of master hut maker Richard Lee.
Though inspired by traditional craftsmanship, Redwood has been built using contemporary timber frame methods. Thanks to its sheep’s wool insulation – a renewable and eco-friendly material – it stays cosy in winter and cool in summer, making it a comfortable retreat all year round.
